| On a more serious note... Mmmmm, well had a similar "sounding" issue on a buddies Z several weeks back... Long story short, 3000 miles into his rebuild, and 3 weeks after a official tune the "sound" came out of no where... After many painful hours of trial by fire. & many colorful words out the wha-zoo, in HIS case, we ended up doing the following: -Compression test: 1,2,4,& 5 were all within spec... 3 & 6 were terribly low... -Did a leak down test: failed epically for what ever reason... -Tore it back apart: found that 4 valves were bent, and cylinders 3 & 6 were badly scared and the walls as well.. (why/how?) who the hell knows... Aparently something was "left behind" or came loose and did the Cuban mamba while he was driving 1 day under low load conditions... We never found what bounced around in his motor.. The turbo blades were all fine, so we presume it burnt up an got blown out his exhaust, etc.. End result: he had to rebuild his long block yet AGAIN... ***Not saying your case is the same, but hearing your noise brought back chilling bad feelings when we broke the news to him, and the look on his face... Hopefully yours is a minor fix ( fingers crossed here for you bud ). -Mario D.
